GoPro Speaker:
March 2022 - April 2022
A new product not currently on the market designed for an existing company incorporating their product and design language.

Impact Resistant Mesh and Hydrophobic Coating
The GoPro Speaker features an impact resistant mesh, followed by a hydrophobic blue layer which work in tandem to protect the speaker components. This blue layer is slightly visible when viewing the GoPro from certain angles. In using the same GoPro blue as seen in the GoPro’s logo the blue serves as a connecting feature to the otherwise monochrome body
-
The raised power button is a design feature present on current GoPro cameras which allow the user to determine where the power button is without looking.
-
The raised logo works in tandem with the blue hydrophobic mesh to bring colour into the design. Raising the logo helps to break up the rectilinear shape that composes the speaker.
-
High heat can reduce the quality of sound and cause components to deteriorate. Including a heat sink like area near the battery and charging area helps make the GoPro speaker last longer and work better in extreme conditions
-
A folding cover with a locking mechanism similar to the one found on the HERO 12 ensures the battery and USB-C charging plug are well protected from water and dust.
-
Folding GoPro mounts allow the speaker to sit flush on surfaces so the speaker can be placed onto flat surfaces, while still enabling it to attach to any existing GoPro accessory.
-
The red power indicator and the blue BlueTooth indicators work in tandem to allow users ease when setting up and pairing their speaker for the first time.
Design Cues
A lot of aspects of this design are taken directly from current GoPro products, including the folding attachment rings, raised blue logo, and the power button icon.
The speaker is made to be compatible with the current GoPro HERO10 Battery which is standard in their cameras at the time of design.
GoPro History
This product also take design inspiration from GoPro’s history, covering the battery section with the HERO7’s system instead of the current HERO10’s as this design was found to be easier to engage with considering the larger shape of the GoPro speaker.
